Bachelor of Information Management (BIM)

In today’s competitive world only having knowledge about the business is not enough to sustain in the market, gaining the IT skills goes a long way. To address this need, Bachelor of Information Management program was developed. BIM aspires to produce skilled and competent IT professionals capable to function in the dynamic business environment. The course provides a comprehensive understanding about both management and IT. The program exposes students to the latest development of the information technology and ever-changing business environment. It consists of foundation courses of 24 credit hours, business courses of thirty credit hours, computer and IT courses of 60 credit hours, elective courses of six credit hours and internship & project work of 6 credit hours.
Some major objectives of the BIM program are:
• To develop communication, analytical and decision-making skills
• To equip students with skill and knowledge required to function as an IT professional
• To provide students with the managerial skills
• To provide students with the comprehensive understanding of the contemporary and emerging technologies and its applications as well as its effect on function of the information system
• Develop a strong foundation for higher level education
Cost of Study:
It cost 4 to 5 lakhs to study the Bachelor of Information Management program.
Duration of Course
The BIM degree is conferred to the students after studying for three years. The program is spread over eight semesters consisting of 126 credit hours. In each semester there will be fifteen to eighteen credit hours.
Career Prospect in Nepal:
Since BIM graduates will have a comprehensive understanding of both management and IT, grads will find jobs in business firms that use computers extensively. This degree opens a door in both private and public organizations. Grads with this degree have option to work as IT Faculty and Computing, Web Developer Programmer, Software Project Manager, MIS/ IT/ Computer Officer, System Administrator, Software Engineer, Software Programmer, System Analyst, Network Manager, Middle-level Manager / Officer, Sales and retail assistants, IT Consultants and Planners, Advertising and Marketing Executives etc.
Admission Requirements:
Eligibility
Candidate seeking admission to the BIM program should have completed 12 years of education
Candidate should have secured at least second division in +2
Candidate should have taken the CMAT examination and pass it. Only selected candidate will be called for the personal interview

Scholarship
Every college affiliated to the TU provides scholarship to two deserving students. The scholarship is endowed to those students who have passed their SLC or SEE through community schools and have passed CMAT. Up to fifty percent tuition fee is waivered.

Can I transfer credit from one university to another? Yes, but students can transfer their credit to only those universities acknowledge by the Tribhuvan University. The maximum credit allowed to transfer is 30 credit hours. Moreover, if students want to withdraw the study after completing the BIM partially, they are provided with the certificates mentioning the credit hours they have completed. In which month CMAT test is held? Generally, CMAT test is held in September.

Is it mandatory to attain the college? Students who fail to maintain at least 80% attendance are not qualified to attain in the semester-end examination. However, if student can provide the concrete reason why he/she could not attain the class it can be considered.

How many marks should I secure to graduate? You should at least attain 2 GPA in every subject to graduate.
