Veterinary Medicine Course in Nepal

Veterinary Medicine course is the field to do the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, disorder and injury of birds and animal. In this course, people learn about the different medical cures, preventions and medicines for the animal in different disease and injuries. It is one of the popular subjects among the Nepalese student as Nepal is an agricultural country and has been practising to keep a domestic animal for agricultural and for food basis.

After SEE, a student can directly join the CTEVT and do the diploma in veterinary. The form distribution for CTEVT is 2074 Ashad 7 and the deadline for the form submission is Ashad 29. And if the student chooses the BVSc the form distribution date is February 7, 2018. If a student carries his\her study of veterinary under the CTEVT they have to do diploma under JTA for 15 to 18 months. Or if they choose the bachelors then they have to complete their study of +2 with science(bio) and He\she has to do 10 semesters in 5 years.

It takes about 4 years to complete the BVSc and rest of the years at an internship. In the first four years the students are given the formal education like the programme includes theoretical and practical training in various disciplines like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, livestock management, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, genetics and breeding, gynaecology, surgery, medicine and animal husbandry extension and in the rest one year the students are given practical training as an internship for six month. After the six month training students are given three months training at the Teaching Veterinary Clinical Service Complex (TVCSC) under the supervision of a senior and in the next month they are given the training on livestock production and management at animal farms then another month to poultry production and management and in rest two months they are given training about livestock products’, technology and other services.

After the Bachelors in Veterinary Science(BVSc) there is post graduation in Veterinary Science also called the Masters in Veterinary Science in which the students learn about physiology, anatomy, medicine, surgery, bacteriology, biochemistry, cardiology, dermatology, microbiology, molecular biology, anaesthesia, gynaecology, pathology, toxicology, virology, pharmacology, and so on. For doing research and teaching in teaching institutions the postgraduate degree is required whereas a PhD scholar is preferred.
